CONVENTION CALL...115TH ANNUAL CONVENTION
October 5-8, 2011

As many of you prepare to take your summer breaks, it is important that you inform your chapter members of
the NC Division Convention scheduled Wednesday, Oct. 5 through Saturday, Oct. 8, 2011. Please make
each member aware of the deadlines for registration, hotel room reservations, meal reservations, etc. as
many of these may occur before you resume your regular schedule in the fall. Feel free to make additional
copies if necessary.
Voting body of the Division Convention shall consist of all Division Officers, Ex-Division Presidents, dues
paying Honorary Division Presidents, Committee Chairmen, District Directors, Chapter Presidents and duly
elected Chapter Delegates. All UDC members are encouraged to attend the Executive Board Meeting
and Business Sessions. Guests are welcome to attend non-business functions including, Memorial Service,
Welcome Evening Banquet, Friendship Luncheon, Historical Evening & Bestowal of Military Service Awards
Ceremony and Reception. Convention badge must be worn at all Business Meetings.
CONVENTION HOTEL: Sheraton Imperial Hotel & Convention Center, 4700 Emperor Blvd., Durham, NC
27703. Reservations must be made directly with the hotel at (919) 841-5050. You must state that you are
with the United Daughters of the Confederacy to receive the convention rate of $105 Single or Double + tax.
(Onsite complimentary parking). Check In 3:00 PM and Check Out 11:00 AM. RESERVATIONS MUST BE
MADE BY Wednesday, August 30, 2011 to secure the convention rate. BOOK EARLY!!! After that date,
room rates revert to regular hotel rates.
DIRECTIONS TO HOTEL: 1-40 going West, Exit 282 (Page Rd), go back under I-40 then turn left on
Emperor Blvd. Going East on 1-40, exit 282 (Page Road) and go to stoplight. Continue straight across on
Emperor Blvd. The Sheraton Imperial will be up the hill on your left.

SALES TABLES RENTAL: Chapter sales tables will be available for rental fee of $30.00 each. Sales will
be in the Piedmont Room. If your chapter has items for sale and would like to reserve a table or tables,

SILENT AUCTION: Items for the Silent Auction should be delivered to Mrs. Wilda Council, Chairman Growth
& Development Committee or to Mrs. Connie Dedmon, Co-Chairman prior to the Opening Session. Items
will be set up in the Piedmont Room. Proceeds from the Silent Auction will be determined by the Convention.
CHAPTER SCRAPBOOKS, PRESSBOOKS, NEWSLETTERS: Chapter Scrapbooks, Pressbooks, and
Newsletters should be delivered to Piedmont Room for display during the Convention. Items to be judged for
Division Awards must be in the hands of the Division Historian, Amy R. Huss by the end of the Welcome
Evening Banquet, Thursday, October 6th. Items may be retrieved from Piedmont Room following the close of
the Second Business Session on Friday, October 7th at 4:00 PM.
NC DIVISION BYLAWS
The Division By-Laws Committee sent out the proposed amendments of the Division Bylaws to the
General Bylaws Committee for approval. A copy of the proposals has been mailed to all Division Chapter
Presidents. Please bring your copy of the proposed bylaws to the Convention, as the Bylaws will be address
Friday October 7, 2011 after the Opening of the First Business Session at 8:30 AM.
GREAT, GR GR & GR GR GR GRANDDAUGHTERS CLUB MEETINGS
The Division Great Granddaughters, Great, Great Granddaughters and Great, Great, Great Granddaughter
Clubs will meet Thursday afternoon in the Imperial Ballroom following the conclusion of the Division Officers
Workshops.
GRANDDAUGHTERS CLUB MEETING
The Division Granddaughters will meet Friday October 7, 2011 at 4:00 in the Imperial Ballroom.
